The brief for this project was fairly simple, "A traditional
pine kitchen with all modern conveniences built in".
How to best combine the old with the new?
An AGA
was installed in an old fireplace at one end of the kitchen
with two small units either side. These have space for toasting
racks and trays. They also contain access panels for the controls.
|
All the appliances were built in to the units. The Fridge-Freezer
at the far end, the microwave in a three-quarter height cupboard
next to that and the dishwasher next to the sink. For worktops
we used Fountain
Green
Granite.
On the wall next to the sink we built a plate rack, ideally
placed for quickly tidying those dishes away!
|
As a little addition we built a mobile granite topped butchers
trolley. This contained a cutlery tray and wicker basket storage
underneath.
A Kitchen similar to this would cost in the region of £11,000
excluding appliances at today's prices.
